Two independent lines in 3/4: a right-hand melody of stepwise eighth-note runs and leaps against a left hand that moves in its own line of mostly dotted-half, half and quarter notes; mordents (bars 3, 5, 11, 13), a grace note in bar 8 and a short trill in bar 30, and a second half that turns to D major (C sharp) before coming home. Both halves repeated.
How to practise it
Each hand has its own line: the left hand holds long notes while the right hand moves in eighths. Practise each hand alone, then loop bars 1-8 together at 80 BPM.
Learn bars 3 and 5 without the mordents first. Add them lightly once the eighth notes are steady, so the beat never waits for them.
The second half turns to D major, so watch for the C♯ in bars 20-23. Listen for the brighter sound before the music comes home to G.
In bars 25-26 the left hand plays two voices: the upper note comes in on beat 2 and holds while the lower note is struck again on beat 3. Practise the left hand alone here first.
